There once lived a rupee coin
and it travelled far and wide
the north, the south, the east, the west,
and the great indian divide.
from a beggars bowl to a store safe
to the pockets of a young boy
wherever it went, in some form or other,
it not once failed to bring joy.
countless hands it passed through
countless clothes its abode
for some a worthless piece of metal
for some, life-support.
